How do you get people to raid?

World Of WarcraftWell, after a few good weeks of Raiding it seems that we've hit the lul in raid signups again. It's something that's plagued us since day one of raiding where people presume that because we've cleared an instance that we therefore should never be going back there again! I would like to think that the fact that out GM hasn't signed up for a couple of raids due to work issues has nothing to do with this, but it's hard to hope for a coincidence when I've seen it happen before, however I know that all officers in the guild are more than capable of leading a raid and have done on many occasions. But anyway, the question at hand is how do we make people raid?

I'm ready to consider some of the follwing...

  • Bullying - Something tells me that calling people names, teasing them or beating them up wouldn't work. Partially because it wouldn't make them want to log on but mainly due to the fact that I don't know them in real life to actually do so.
  • Telling their Mum - Unfortunately we have a relatively mature guild (at least in age) so their parents probably don't have much influence on their gaming experience.
  • Paying them - Hmm. My cash flow probably won't be large enough to support a regular raiding schedule so LF1M Sponsor for Bloodline, must have money!
  • MOTD Ascii - With a bit of work maybe I could create some Ascii to put in the Guild Message of the Day displaying random nekkid women. If this was regular it may convince people to come online more often.
  • Alt leveling - Hmm I could offer to level up one of their alts 1 level for every raid they attend fully. I'm pretty fast at levelling alts so I don't think this would be too hard to offer!
  • Ask them nicely - If I was really kind to them and polite would they be more inclined to sign up Probably wont work so i'll discount this one instantly.

Ok, I'm pretty much out of ideas now so I will see if I get any responses from here that may help! Feel free to add anything you feel will help in the comments section and I'll keep watching! :D
